This veteran’s story is truly touching.

This veteran’s story is quite touching. A news team realized they could and should help him when they heard about his predicament. The Fox 5 Surprise Squad visited the Albertsons area on a bright day in Las Vegas. They paid for the groceries of a random selection of consumers because they wanted to do something special for the inhabitants. Dave Hall served as the team leader. He went over to a few individuals who were about to check out. Every time he requested to help pay for their groceries, it brightened their day.

They intervened and paid for the acquisition of strangers on several occasions. The staff members saw other staff members helping haphazard people, so they told them which regular customers needed the greatest help. A cashier nearly burst into tears. She was ecstatic to see these kind deeds making people happy and felt very appreciative. Not to mention, Dave gave Stephanie an introduction. She was a disabled war veteran. She moved about in a wheelchair. Stephanie said she was buying food for her pets and herself.

Without much financial assistance, she was struggling. She admitted to Dave that she was down to her last $50.

She didn’t know what she would do after that.

The anchor for the news was happy to help. That he covered the full cost of the goods made Stephanie very happy. Dave looked at the man behind her.

He queried, “Is this your husband?”

The man was a friend of her husband.

This man, named Larry, was another veteran who had been in the same club as Stephanie’s husband.

The club, Bones For Blankets, focused on donating blankets to homeless veterans.

Sixteen years ago, Larry had founded the group following the devastating loss of three of his brothers. All of them had frozen to death. The encounter made Larry realize how crucial resource sharing is. He described how Stephanie’s spouse was a truck driver who traveled frequently, so he kept Stephane company and assisted her in overcoming the difficulties she encountered as a result of her impairment.

“No vet should be going through what she’s going through,” Larry told the Surprise Squad.

That may have been the end of it, but Dave Hall was determined that Larry would not be leaving the store without the Surprise Squad members paying for his groceries as well. Larry said to Dave, “You served us,” even though all he had planned to buy was candies and dish detergent. Now it’s our turn to assist you. Larry was therefore free to browse the store and choose anything he desired. After Dave and the others settled the tab, Larry was left wiping tears from his eyes and his total coming to $278.

“This is just like overwhelming, I’ve been taking care of myself since I was 13,” Larry said.
