My ex-husband and I divorced a year ago, and a few months later, he started dating someone else. We had a tumultuous breakup and stopped communicating altogether.
Recently, he reached out to me out of the blue, saying, “I’m getting married soon, and I want you to take back your maiden name because my fiancée is uncomfortable.”
I asked him why it was a problem, and he said she didn’t want me to have the same last name.
She knows I was his ex-wife, and she thinks I still “belong” to him.
It’s too much paperwork, and I don’t have the time for that.
I declined and blocked him. I was surprised to see his fiancée standing in front of my house. She gave me a disgusted look and continued, “I would have changed my last name by now if I wasn’t still in love with him.”
